A night out

We went out tonight (me and three girl friends) to the cinema and this was the random picture of the ice cream counter (and the assistant's tummy - she has consumed too much of her wares!). The wedding dress pictures were drawn by her in a quiet moment for another assistant, who apparently was getting married, although she wasn't even engaged yet! Girls!

We saw the film 'The Black Swan'. It was a very dark story!

Still Life

Went out to get my photo today, to make up for the salad cream hand and foot faces of yesterday - it is Sunday so we went to Ospringe churchyard! It was bitterly cold.

10 Minute Makeover

The 'Not So Christmas Quiz' turned out to be a fun packed evening of constant laughter - I took many photos and had some great ones of Wayne laughing at something that escapes me - but I was assured that these two were the photos to be put on my blog tonight. It's a long story...!

Big boys' Meccano

 

Today saw a great big crane in the school car park - delivering the steel girders for the roof for the new hall. More photo opportunities were taken - I liked this one because this builder had spent a good 15 minutes trying to release the chain from the girder before it was finally free to swing away.

Couldn't teach at this moment as Bob (the builder) was making a horrible din outside my door - so took the photo for the day instead!

Photo Shoot

Caught one of the builders taking a shot of his handy work just outside my door (The photographer/builder is actually a Dad of one of my pupils, who was highly embarrassed that I was taking the picture of him taking a picture!) I especially like the pose of the other builder who clearly wants a job in the latest 'What Builder Magazine' modelling the latest in DayGlo jackets and matching hard hats!!

Emma's best friend

Emma came home from work and was immediately joined in the small space left on the sofa! Bramble adores her!

Boozer

We went to Neil and Emma's to taste wine for the wedding. Not sure if anything was decided but they had fun choosing!

Felt sad...

It's snowing!

One of the other teachers came running into my classroom, where my children were seated quietly waiting for the lesson to begin after lunch, to very excitedly tell us that 'IT'S SNOWING!' The result was total loss of control of my children who seemed to be sucked to the window by some sort of large snow magnet!

Loads to see

I really liked this photo taken through the small window in the front door! I was just playing with my camera, trying out different settings for night time pictures. I didn't have a tripod so it's a bit out of focus, but I love the fact that you can see the street right down to the road opposite ours, the mirror behind in the hall, the kitchen and the photos on the fridge. 

Knit and Natter

This was a fun evening spent learning to knit with Emma's mum. It took me back to junior school, and I learned a few more stitches!

Had a fun time this morning, photographing our new pet! I had just finished filling up all the feeders when I noticed this little chap trying to get to the fat balls! We are going into town later to get a humane trap - he is very sweet but 'not in our back yard thanks'! I learned a bit about my camera as I was trying to take it through the window without flash and I took loads of him exploring the whole area, but because he is moving, he is out of focus - it has spurred me on to learn more as the birds that came once Mr Ratty had gone would make good photos for my Feathered Friends folder.

Bought a hot cooked chicken on the way home from work - Bram was straight in the bag sniffing it out as I came through the door! 

Larking about

I took loads of pictures of these children and their teacher as I was passing through their lesson - lots of them showed the children all doing the exercises in unison, but this was my favourite as it captured the nature of the year group - and their teacher!

Reflections

I was sitting marking two piles of books and this was the view!

Conversation

At Wayne and Katy's again, for housegroup, and Drew was the model host offering everyone tea or coffee and writing down the orders. The conversation between him and Sam was amusing - Sam was asking for all types of drinks that were unavailable and Drew wasn't having any of his nonsense! He served us all with our drinks like a true gent, then toddled off to bed!

Sunshine

The winter sun streamed through the window this morning, as we were preparing breakfast. It gives us hope that spring is on its way!

Hmmm... what shall I take today?

Taking photos everyday certainly makes you look around for interesting things and makes you see more than usual. But today is cold and rainy so indoors was the only place to search - I tried changing the settings on my camera and not using the flash. I need to learn more but I think it's quite good for a novice!

Rain Stops Play

This was taken just outside my external classroom door (I didn't zoom in!) - the new hall is being built right outside my room and we have the pleasure of watching it from the turning of the first sod to the final roof tile being put in place. It rained so hard today that the workmen drank tea in their hut all day!

Playing for time

Drew was supposed to be in bed but was hanging about hoping for some of the curry being cooked in the kitchen by our good friend Wayne (with a lttle help from his wife, Katy). Their Christmas decorations were still up - well most of them. Is this one destined to be left out of the loft?

A walk on the beach to take in some fresh air led to taking pictures of the bleak landscape, the sea and some of the sea birds enjoying the freezing weather.

Happy 8th Birthday Bramble!

The end of 2010. The start of 2011.

The decorations are back in the loft and the tree has been moved to its new home on the patio. It will be moved at some stage before the spring when the weather is warm enough for us to want to venture out there! The New Year streamers could be used for the first nests of the season.
